From: Neal Holtz <holtz%cascade.carleton.cdn%ubc.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa> You will likely get better info from SIGGRAPH attendees, but in the meantime, extracting supposed facts from the Apollo press releases of July 24 (and omitting the blarney -- which cuts down size remarkably): DOMAIN/LASER-26 laser printer: - "up to" 26 pages/minute - 300 dpi. - PostScript interpreter built-in to graphics processor on printer - up to 11x17 inch paper - straight-through paper path - 1500 sheet capacity paper cassettes - optional 10-bin sorter/collater - RS-232 or Centronics parallel interface - less then 55 db noise. PostScript support: - "Apollo has adopted PostScript as its standard corporate print language ... " - "Because the PostScript decomposer runs on Apollo workstations, users can output PostScript files to non-PostScript printers." (there is also a statement implying [I think] that it might be possible for users to write their own device drivers for the PostScript decomposer, but I found it confusing and fairly content-free, so I won't quote it). LaserWriter support: - "Apollo also announced new software that supports the Apple LaserWriter ... . ... connected to the workstation via RS-232 ... " (this may be simply providing support for the print server and "PRF" command, but I know no more.)
