From: bierma@nprdc.arpa (Larry Bierma) Remember a while back someone said that QMS was withdrawing their PostScript printers from the market because they couldn't make them work. As I recall the person who posted that message was flamed at for being un-informed. It turns out to be true. Group III electronics (So. Cal. rep for QMS) was told by the west coast QMS office to stop selling the 800A and 1200A printers. The name Jeff Flemming from QMS came up in my discussion with Group III. There was no official reason for withdrawing the PostScript products from the market. But, as always there were rumors so switch on your bogosity meter. It goes something like this: The performance of the 800A and 1200A was miserable and QMS had little luck fixing their controller. So, they abandoned their hardware and bought a license to produce a controller designed by Adobe Inc., something called the "redstone"??. The plans now call for a beta release of the 800A in September and the 1200A sometime in December. So, comments? Histerical laughter?? --Larry ARPA: bierma@nprdc.arpa UUCP: {decvax,ucbvax,ihnp4}!sdcsvax!sdcsla!nprdc!bierma PSTN: (619) 225-2161 "And where are all the sportsmen who always pulled you through"
