From: Arnold Robbins <arnold%gatech.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa> Kind Folks, We have ditroff here, and would like to use it with out Imagen 8/300 laser printer. The font files, DESC file, and raster bit maps that come with Ditroff are for the older Imprint-10, which is 240 dots per inch. The 8/300 is 300 dpi. As a kludge, I have increased the appropriate numbers by 25%, and changed the names of the font files (e.g. R.12 to R.10), which produces only moderately acceptable output. Does anyone have description, and more importantly, the raster bit map, files for Ditroff for an 8/300? I sent mail to Brian Kernighan, who said that he did not have anything, and even if he did red tape would prevent him from getting it to me. He suggested that I try on this newsgroup instead. If anyone can help, please reply by mail, since I don't read this newsgroup directly (it does get fed into our USENET system, but that is indirect). Thanks in advance, Arnold Robbins CSNET: arnold@gatech ARPA: arnold%gatech.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa UUCP: { akgua, allegra, hplabs, ihnp4, seismo, ut-sally }!gatech!arnold

From: James Wang <jim@seismo.CSS.GOV> You should be able to get a postprocessor (dimp.c) for the 8/300 and all the necessary files for ditroff from Imagen. The one that comes with the Berkeley ditroff tape (dip.c) is for the 8/240 and dumped core on our Sun 2.1 system. I don't have the contact details for Imagen right now, but if you send mail I can send you the name & number when I get into my office (I'm at home now). There are programs on the ditroff tape for converting vfont files to rst files, and they actuallly work. The fontmag program for enlarging fonts also works, although they get kind of fuzzy at large point sizes. I've also hacked the dimp.c to do polygons, line styles, and line thicknesses so gremlin and ideal work. I'm not sure what sort of license agreement we have so I don't know offhand if I can send these to you, but if you're interested let me know. Jim Wang Artecon, Inc.
