From: Glen Foster <GFoster@USC-ISI.arpa> Does anybody have any experience with Tangent Technologies LaserScript software? This is supposed to be a set of programs that provide conversion of WordStar, ASCII and various other file formats to PostScript code. The ads sound great (as always). How about some user experiences? Thanks in advance. Glen Foster (GFOSTER@USC-ISIA.ARPA) -------

From: "Roger C. King" <RCKing@MIT-MULTICS.arpa> I have had great success modifying the printer drivers for XyWrite II Plus to get them to output PostScript code. XyWrite, from XyQuest in Bedford, MA, is an excellent wordprocessor which can then be used, of course, to take any ASCII file and output the appropriate PostScript. XyWrite III, available soon, supports proportional fonts, and also adapts easily to PostScript, and is thus compatible with any font you might want to call up internal to the LaserWriter or download to it. However, XyQuest has not as yet sent out any official LaserWriter drivers, so you have to be able to do it yourself (not too difficult, I am not a 'hacker' in what I would call the formal definition, if there is one, of the word) or modify unsupported drivers like my own to meet your own needs. Roger King MIT Lincoln Laboratory I am willing to offer XyWrite II Plus drivers to anyone that might want them.
