Another story along the same lines comes from WWII, during the "Marianas Turkey Shoot" in the latter stages of the war, when the Japanese sent in wave after wave of aircraft manned by inexperienced pilots in an attempt to sink a US Task Force. They were met by experienced Navy pilots flying the latest in US hardware. In the midst of the slaughter came an excited radio call from one of the pilots: "Hey, fellas, come to the North side of the island, I've got about fifty of them cornered!!"
