To speed up printing of smalltalk images we wrote a program that outputs the screen primitives rather than the form. Secondly, if doing a rotate of a bitmap rotate it on the host machine rather than doing it with a transformation in Postscript (the latter takes up to 30 minutes, the former has no negative impact on LaserWriter time).
