Having your children sleep with you or not seems to me to be a question of personal space. I prefer to have some place in my life that I can go to and be alone, no questions asked. Thus, in my house, people don't open doors without knocking or rummage through drawers without permission. This is true for me and my two daughters equally. I exercise this privacy with regard to my bed; my daughters don't sleep in my bed. They are now 16 and 13, but this has been true as long as I can remember. I can understand other people, such as Mark, having different privacy conditions. I think it is a matter of personal preference. If one feels uncomfortable having one's children in bed with them, then don't do it. There may be a price to pay, however, in some sleepless nights dealing with a crying child.
