My wife once saw Pat Boone on a talk show where he related an anecdote illustrating his commitment to parental discipline. His daughter marred a new piano by writing her name on it (speculation: did she press through a piece of paper?) As punishment he didn't give her the new bicycle she was expecting for Christmas.
