Please excuse me if this appears twice. I'm new to this newsgroup, as I am a new father. My daughter was born one week ago. I am truely happy, but there are so many things to consider. Behavior is one area of concern. For now, I want to respond to the father who is shocked about the news story of that family in trouble because of the photos of their naked 6 year old daughter. I would agree with you that arresting the parents is extreme, but what I want to know is how do you tell your daughter that it is ok to be photographed in the buff at home, but not in the outside world. I would think that introducing consistant behavior at home as well as the world is important. How can we hope our kids will behave in front of strangers, if they are led to believe it is ok at home. Maybe I've gone too far, but I can't help but think that kids can't make that distinction of how to behave when. If you don't want your child to put his feet up on the coffee table at your friend's house, don't let him do it at home. By the way, that was pretty bold of you to announce your crime on the net. What did you say your name was again... :-) "Giraffes aren't so tall when viewed from above." Robert Dexter

<> Did I miss something or has the lead article not gotten to my machine yet? I haven't seen the original article about the flap over nude photos of a 6-yr-old. Anyway, as a participant in net.rec.nude, I'd very seriously ask what's wrong with a 6-yr-old being photographed nude even outside the home? (Aside from the very sticky problem of discriminating photos taken with the intent to be used as kiddy porn). I seriously ask at what age it *isn't* OK to take pictures of children in the nude? 6 years old certainly isn't into puberty, so where is the line drawn (assuming you agree with me that it's OK for me to take such photos of my 8-month-old). I usually don't pay any attention to whether my child is wearing clothes or not when I point a camera at her. I'm not asking the questions in a rhetorical manner, i.e. I haven't already decided on the answers. Pete LaMaster (201)949-5009 ihnp4!hou2f!pvlm

The man was caught because he sent the photos to an outside developer. Obviously the developer could just as easily have sold some unauthorized prints to an adult bookstore. I agree that it's a bad law anyway. But what do you expect from Illinois? -- Col. G. L. Sicherman ...seismo!rochester!rocksanne!rocksvax!sunybcs!gloria!colonel
