I too have seen the honor system of snack trays work well at previous companies that I worked for. Unfortunately, the present situation destroyed the faith in employees that had built up. One of our employees used to buy bunches of bagelsin various flavors and leave them with a money box ($.35 each) in the lunchroom on Friday mornings with some butter, cream cheese, and strawberry jam. Every- thing was going smoothly (or so we thought!) until dollar bills in the cigar boxthat was used for change started to disappear. The guy ten switched to a metal box with a lock. Okay, great .... until someone stole the money box!!! Now, it's goodbye bagels! (He still provides them for the building that he works in and can keep a closer eye on.)
