[net.kids] Reply to mel

penny@hlwpc.UUCP (P. Blaine) (09/17/84)

The following was sent to me in response
to my question regarding sex ed. books for kids:

"If your kids are over 5 or 6, it is too late.
They probably know all there is to know. If you
need to get something from books, there must be
something off in your relationship with the kids.
You should have read the books before you had them."

Thank you for your opinion mel, but I do not agree!!

***** FLAME ON *****

I can't imagine a 5 or 6 year old is able to comprehend
all the details of sexual intercourse. Of course, if they
have questions about girls anatomy vs boys anatomy, thats
a different story.

Besides that, I said I have had discussions with them,
they have had questions about sex for the past few years,
its not like this is the first time I'm discussing it
with them.

Maybe I'm behind the times, but I think that getting
down to the nitty gritty details of sexual intercourse
with a 5 or 6 year old is a bit much!!!!!!

***** FLAME OFF *****

I would like to hear from others about this subject.

Please reply to:

hlwpc!penny or post to the netnews so everyone can read

Thanks.

Even the most sophisticated 5 or 6 year old who thinks they know
it all about sex cannot. Penny is absolutely right. I am suspicious
of a nonparent reply here.
