My daughter is 17 months old; we put her in cloth diapers when we have the luxury of being at home, and in disposables when we travel. I can't imagine how people who use cloth diapers survive without Biobottoms. These are woven wool overpants, held in place with velcro, that replace plastic pants and pins. We have used various over-diaper devices, including plastic, cotton, synthetics, wraps that our diaper service sells, etc. Nothing else even comes close to being as good as a Biobottom. They soak up lots of wetness, but they breathe to prevent diaper rash. Baby always seems to get a rash when we travel, but never at home. They are available by mail from Biobottoms, POBX 1060, Petaluma CA 94953, telephone 707/778-7945, for $11 each. Yes, virgin wool is expensive. Five sizes: A: 0-14lbs, B: 14-18lbs, C: 18-22lbs, D: 22-27lbs, E: 27-32lbs Three styles: "Classic"--white wool, full cut. "Rainbow Classic"--same as above, but rainbow decorations "Rainbow Bikini"--covers less of the leg, cream-colored wool. We have 6 or 8 in each size. She goes through 3 to 4 of them a day, so we can get by with laundry every second day. They shrink a bit in the dryer. The manufacturer recommends line drying, but we have always used a dryer. You should therefore get a larger size if your kid is near a size boundary. Memories of scratchy wool underwear made me worry about the wool in these irritating baby's skin, but in fact the wool is so fine and soft that it is not at all irritating. Try 'em--you'll never know how you did without 'em. Brian Reid {decvax,allegra,ihnp4}!decwrl!glacier!reid Stanford Reid@SU-Glacier.ARPA
