[net.kids] highchairs - another vote for Sidewinder

i used various highchairs at restaurants and friends' houses.
the absolute worst (in my opinion, of course) are the kinds with
the metal spring/clamp thingies under the tray - hard to reach,
pinch fingers of kids and adults, break or get stuck....

the Sidewinder (actually i don't remember the name of my chair, but
it fit the description) was easy to use - it could be opened one-handed,
a real necessity if one has an armful of baby; was easier, or so it seemed,
to prevent pinched fingers, since it only closed on one side; it beat the
type with a tray that drops down, because sometimes that's just what
happens, dropping on somebodies hands, baby's head - or, with a feisty
baby who is jumping and writhing, it may be difficult to close at all.
Next: ease of cleaning - the tray has several adjjustment points to accomodate
a growing baby and also allows for complete removal for cleaning (something
most wooden trays do not). And, when the kid is still short, but ready to
eat at the regular table, just take off the tray, and voila! a high chair.

mine also had a multiply adjustable foot rest (good for growing legs)
and was blessed with a very high outer rim (which is not true of most wooden
highchairs and many other plastic models) so floods of soup, juice, milk,
creative work with mashed foods, spaghetti, etc., do not also grace the
rest of the room (fortunately my kid was not the food tossing type).
