Here's a point that nobody has brought up, so far as I know. Of all the forms of corporal punishment, the most popular seems to be striking the child's unguarded ass. Can anybody explain why this method is superior to others? "If you strike a child, take care that you strike it in anger, even at the risk of maiming it for life. A blow in cold blood neither can nor should be forgiven." G. B. Shaw, _Man and Superman_ (1903) -- Col. G. L. Sicherman ...seismo!rochester!rocksanne!rocksvax!sunybcs!gloria!colonel

Could we find out if Col. G.L. Sicherman is a parent or not, please? By the way, Col., if you know someone beating their children (as you claim in a previous message) what have you done about it? Cheered them on? -- Spoken: Mark Weiser ARPA: mark@maryland Phone: +1-301-454-7817 CSNet: mark@umcp-cs UUCP: {seismo,allegra}!umcp-cs!mark USPS: Computer Science Dept., University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742
