[net.kids] The Kids Rule Book

spangler@kvue.UUCP (Lance Spangler) (02/17/85)

Recently while talking with my 5 year old son, I made a reference to
something I called "The Kids Rule Book". I had intended for the
conversation to simply back up some rule we were discussing. Well,
it went over so well with him that I've refered to that "vapor-book"
on several other occasions.

Now comes the kicker. My son wants to see a copy of the book. Of
course there is no book. And that's where the kind and good people
on USENET come in. I'd like to ask the readers/posters here on net.
kids to help me with a suggested list of rules for the soon to be
published USENET version of THE KIDS RULE BOOK.

My thoughts are that the book will include all the normal "kids rules"
like "...obey your parents...eat all your food...don't talk back...ect."
But I'd also like to include some of the more important rules as well.
Things like "Don't talk to strangers because....."

I'll bet there are some users out there who would be interested helping with
this project. If interest warrents, I'll be glad to post the finished
version to the net, and of course, anyone submitting suggested rules will
receive a copy via E-mail.

Thanks in advance for your help in getting me out of how water with the
kiddo. Oh yes, please send flames to dev/null since I already realize I
shouldn't have told him about a book that doesn't exsist (yet!) As you
can see, I'm trying to correct my mistake.

It serves you right, for saying something like that. So here's #1 for
the PARENTS' Rule Book:

Don't try to put one over on your kids.

But seriously, that reminds me of a saying my dad often used:

Don't try to pull any tricks on me - I know every trick
in the book. In fact, when I was a kid, I wrote the book!

To which I would mentally add,

Yeah, but there's been a lot of new chapters written
	since then.
