Our 3-1/2 year old has had severe problems with constipation since going onto solid food. We'd tried everything we could think of: his diet is high in fiber from cereals and fresh fruit, but after a bowel impaction, we had to put him on mineral oil every day (no way to get any prune juice into the kid), and he's not as much of a drinker as we'd like, either. My cousin's wife, an X-ray technician with a strong interest in natural remedies, prevailed on us to switch him over to goat's milk. She suspected some sort of allergic reaction (although my understanding of milk intolerance is that its symptomatology tends to the other extreme). In the spirit of "Well, it's something we haven't tried yet." we did, and it seems to be doing the the trick. For the past three weeks he's been clockwork. I don't think that it's a true allergy. He does still have the occasional cow's milk when we're out, and cheese. However, it seems that to his digestive system, cow's milk is far more binding than goat's. -- ______ Russ Herman / \ {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!aesat!rwh @( ? ? )@ ( || ) The opinions above are strictly personal, and ( \__/ ) do not reflect those of my employer (or even \____/ possibly myself an hour from now.)
