<Take this!! and that!!! you lineater.> As an avid reader of this newsgroup, I'd like to thank all of you who have given me new insights and ideas on raising my soon-to-be 2-yr-old son. I would appreciate some advice on the type(s) of carseat(s) I might consider buying for him at this stage. He is nearly 3' tall and though slim has outgrown his Peterson carseat (the one that is supposed to take the kid from infant through toddler). Hence I have one of two options; 1. buy him a booster seat 2. buy him a larger carseat Personally, I would prefer the latter option as I like the side, back and front protection he would get with the larger carseat. However, the kid is growing like a weed (he wears a size 8 1/2 shoes) and I may have to buy the booster seat in a year's time anyway. I'd welcome any suggestions from fellow parents as to which option might be better, and what make booster or carseat I should get. However, please send mail and if other readers are interested, I will summarize and post. Thanks in advance, Jennifer Lee Electronic mail to: ucbvax!unmvax!nmtvax!jennifer

> Hence I have one of two options; > 1. buy him a booster seat > 2. buy him a larger carseat I recommend the booster seat. We use one with our three year old (well almost 3, birthday 3/29), and did in the past with our older kids. While there is some extra work to use a harness arrangement in the back seat (in the front, the 3 point lap/shoulder belt is all that is needed), our kids all could manage the belts/straps themselves by age 3, and the booster seat comes in handy as a booster chair at the table when visiting. -- Ed Sachs AT&T Bell Laboratories Naperville, IL ihnp4!ihuxl!essachs

The Ontario Motor League (our version of the AAA) rents child car seats to members for very reasonable rates (in fact, I think it's a one-time fee). When you need to trade up to a larger size, you return the old one and exchange them. Is there any such thing anywhere else? -- - Dave Harris, Arts Computing Office University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
