Thank you for all of the messages received on this subject. There were several ideas common to most of the messages. o Don't plan *too* far ahead. Since Daniel is only 1 year old, you have plenty of time. o Let the child set his own pace. o Praise liberally. Use of rewards may help. o Read some child care books on the subject and follow advice that seems to make sense. o Discuss methods with the sitter. Several parents shared wildly varying experiences about their children, which goes to prove what we already know about the uniqueness of our progeny. My favorite quotation from the answers received: "A very wise friend once told me that if you work VERY hard and follow the little devils around every minute, they will be toilet trained as young as 24 months.
