(No, it's not what you think>) Our new son arrived two days ago at 7 PM at JFK, NW 118 from Korea. We announce this as proud parents, but more to discuss how. We learn on Netnews how to fix nearsightedness and remodel houses. Why not how to adopt? We aren't experts, but David is our 6th, so we can pass on some observations based on experience. David is 7, considered hard to place because of his age (he had been in an orphanage since he was 2). Right now he is blasting away at aliens on the VIC-20 calling out his wins to his sister with great glee. He already knows his name, "Daddy", "Mommy", and the names of the other kids and the two dogs. He answered to "David" in the first hours, and uses a few phrases such as "thats nice" and "brush teeth". He has a twinkle in his eyes, a ready smile, non-stop energy; an absolute joy. There are lots of kids that need homes and families, and lots of families that can take on another kid or two. We would like to pass on the mutual joy, satisfaction, and love adoption brings. In a series of short articles we will cover some of the how-to's of adoption, and some of the experiences we have had with our kids. If you have any questions you would like covered, please send a note. Mel & Betsy Haas , ihnp4!ahuta!mel , ihnp4!ahmer!mel
