I have a four year old son who has "HYPOSPADIAS" - a birth deformity in which the urethra ends before it reaches the tip of the penis. Our doctor has informed us that he will require surgery to correct it. He said the surgery is 90% successful, and will require at least an 8-10 days stay in the hospital with a 4 week total recuperation period. The surgery will last approx. 1 hour. He stated the risks are not so much from the surgery, but it's possible that adhesions could develop in the healing process. The Dr. will have to close up the side opening, and create an extension that goes through to the tip. Does anyone know of a child who has been through this operation? If so, could you please let me hear from you. We need to make a decision before our son has to enroll in kindergarten next year. ?????????Hospital and Physician references Needed???????????????????
