My son was well potty trained before he was 2. At about 2.5 yrs he saw an adventure show on public TV in which some stranded kids had to build a campfire. That day he pretended to build several fires; seems that was all he could think about. That night, he wets the bed. No more problems after that until... Six months later (last night) we have the first fire in our fireplace for this winter. He is excited, helps me carry the wood, etc... At 5:00 AM he wakes up with a wet bed. These are the only 2 times he has wet the bed. Has anyone ever heard of a relationship between fire and bedwetting? My neighbor, a registered nurse, says studies indicate there is one. PS: He seems to understand that fire is dangerous and can hurt him, doesn't seem preoccupied with it unless someone else brings it up first. Any comments?

When I was in Scouting, we built alot of campfires (naturally!) and whenever someone would poke around with the fire, one of the adult leaders would pipe up "If you play with fire, you wet the bed!"...I don't know of any Scouts that wet their sleeping bags after playing with fire.
