[net.kids] Votes on good school systems?

sbw@bocklin.UUCP (11/26/85)

Our family is considering relocating and consider quality
schools to be a major factor in determining where we'll
live. I was wondering if anyone felt they had such a
school system where they lived. If you'd care to
contribute, please mail me where you live, the school
system, and why you like it. I'll be happy to post a
summary if anyone's interested. Thanks!

I live in Fairfax County, VA (10 miles from Washington D.C.)
and it's supposed to have THE best school district in the
country (that's what the local school authorities and
newspapers claim; even if it is not THE best, I am convinced
it's probably in the top five).

Enormous amounts of money are spent in public education,
	library systems, recreational/educational activities in
Fairfax county. Also, Reston (where I live) is a small town
20 miles from Washington DC and is almost tailor made for
	families with small/school-going children.

I don't have any children myself, but from the local newspapers
and the statistics they give, and from what I have seen (I've
visited many local schools for adult education and evening classes)
I have no doubt that Fairfax County school district has to be
one of the best. Also, pay of the teachers here is among the
	highest in the country.
