[net.kids] Jane's flame and other stuff.

Knock it off Jane, yer settin' my hair on fire! Aw, the woman
thinks she is a dragon, but alas, She's a Bic lighter(8-).
Cool yer jets, Dear(8-).

Ummm, back before baby bottles, I guess the primary concern
was to wean a baby when the little squeezer got teeth. This
was a self defence move on Momma's part. (What woman in her
right mind wants a nipple chewed off anyhow?) My brain tells
me that the more teeth a child has, the more solid the food
can be. A kid with a full mouthfull of teeth doesn't have
any need to be sucking on a bottle or Momma either. Watch
animals to see what's natural. Its natural for a young'un
to eat according to his dental capacity.

If tin whistles are made of tin, what are fog horns made of?

Hmph, must be Frye again.
Whoelse?

Children have teeth before they have enough coordination to handle
a cup. Although it would be possible to pour formula down their
throats, this would not be enjoyable or easy. I have noticed that
babies learn quickly not to bite, they do not like Mom's reaction.
If all a child received from feeding was physical nourishment then
pushing them away to feed on their own may have made sense.

Which animals do you suggest we imitate? I am not convinced that
all mammals wean their young at the first sign of teeth. There were
some studies of wild dogs (?) in which the dominate female sent
her puppies to a subordiate female to nurse once the puppies had teeth.

Children receive nourishment from what their digestive systems
can handle. The mouth is just part of it.
