Product recall information from "Consumer Reports", March 1986. Danara baby crib exercisers. Paint on the products presents hazard of lead poisoning. Products: 100,000 crib exercisers sold nationwide for about $8 since April 1981. One type, the Winnie the Pooh exerciser, carries model no. 15011, has wooden crossbar, with plastic straps attached to metal springs at each end of bar, and wooden image of Pooh hanging from bar along with wooden beads and plastic rings. Other type is the Smurf exerciser, model no. 30940, which resembles Pooh model except for blue plastic Smurf on crossbar. What to do: Discard exerciser or return it to dealer for refund. I've been sending out these product recall reports without editorial comment hitherto, but this one defies comprehension. What kind of manufacturer would make a child's toy with lead paint? To answer my own question: a criminal one. ---Pete Kaiser%FURILO.DEC@decwrl.DEC.COM {allegra|decvax|ihnp4|ucbvax}!decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-furilo!kaiser DEC, 2 Iron Way (MRO3-3/G20), Marlboro MA 01752 617-467-4445
