As promised...here is the directory of all the sites which responded to my

Comments: non-local non-backbone sites get penalty
         	        cithep, line tends to hang up
               	        order of preference:
                	local ---> backbone ---> universities
                 	closer sites preferred to more distant sites
                        (everything else being equal)

NOTE:
    Effective May 18, 1984 the uucp name of kpno will change to "noao"
this reflects an organizational change which this division has undergone.
We are now a division of the "National Optical Astronomy Observatories"
hence NOAO for the new site name. I would encourage you to support both
"kpno" and "noao" for the next couple of months while people change over.
I will post a notice to USENET tonight announcing this configuration change.

More important for those sites among you which call "kpno" is the change in the
L.sys information for this site. If you call "kpno" and have not received
the updated L.sys information please try to poll "kpno" and see if it is
waiting for you or give me a call at the phone number listed below.
