I just got my 10" f/4.5 Meade DS-10 (which I am quite happy with, by
the way) and would like to acquire some additional eyepieces beyond
the 24mm Kellner that came with it. I am not particularly familiar
with the state of the current eyepiece art, but it seems to me that
the two leading contenders in the middle-price range are Plossls and
Koenigs. (No, I cannot afford to pay $150+ for a Nagler). I would
appreciate any advice, recommendations, etc. that I could get on
the following major points:
1) Merits of the various types and brands of eyepieces,
2) Reasonable ranges of magnification (I am currently leaning
toward the purchase of a 12mm and 6mm first) and whether
some types of eyepieces do better at high/low powers,
3) Importance of having a set of parfocal eyepieces,
4) Field of view,
5) Special performance issues given my telescope (which, I should
point out, uses 1.25" eyepieces) and my predilection for
observing nebula and other deep-sky objects,
