[net.astro] Conclusion of eyepiece recommendations

rrm@inuxe.UUCP (Ron Meyer) (07/18/84)

Sorry gang, but I was accidently cut off before I finished on the eyepieces.
But anyway David, if you like deep sky stuff, I suggest that you try a 32mm
or 40mm ocular. Meade makes a very fine 40mm extra wide field orthoscopic.
It's very nice on M31, the double cluster and other similar objects. Also,
I have a 2" 32mm erfle that by focuser can accept (I know that this is not
your case) however, the erfles are very nice because of the large apparent
field. You can get your eye right to the glass and get the feeling of "being
inside" the eyepiece. So you may want to check those out. Again, let me state
that I would not recommend spending a lot of money for short focal length
oculars given the small f number of your system. It's just a waste of good money. Feel free David to either call me or send mail if you want to carry on the
discussion or have any questions.
