[net.astro] Did I miss something?

Perhaps I missed something, but I wonder what the motivation for the
U Texas Stardate postings is? It seems to contrast sharply with the other
postings I read. Sometimes, it seems closer to astrology than astronomy.

The Stardate articles are scripts for the National Public Radio show Stardate.
They originate at the McDonald Observatory of the University of Texas.
The motivation for the postings is simply that many people find them
interesting.

The postings of Stardate to net.astro were announced in net.news.group,
to no objections and some favorable comment. The only gripe was from
somebody in Europe who objected to posting it to a *new* newsgroup
(net.astro.stardate) because he was of the opinion that that would
increase the amount of stuff that had to be shipped to Europe.
The idea of posting the Stardate articles was also mentioned several
times in net.astro itself some months back, also to no objections.

I love them! They seem quite scientific and not at all
"astrological." Please keep them coming as, if our local
NPR outlet is carrying them, I haven't found it in the listings.
