[net.astro] new freeware-type programs available

gms@psuvm.UUCP (04/28/85)

I have written two programs that will be distributed as user-supported, or
'freeware-type' packages. This means that they are copywrited, and a donation
is requested but not necessary. If anyone is interested they should send me
email or give me a call.

(1) SKYPLOT Planetarium Simulator

This program simulates the sky between 1975 and 2000 as seen from anywhere
on the earth. It will produce a plot of the sky, centered on north, east,
south or west, with the sun, moon, planets, as many stars as are in the
database (currently about 330), and up to 4 optional (user-supplied)
objects. Plotting options and other capabilities are also available. The
source is included for user-modification.

(2) Abstract SEARCH Program

This is a simple information-retireval system designed for keeping track
of journal articles, ad-hoc notebooks, and file drawer contents -- although
it can be used for other things. It has many 'bells and whistles' and
operates on standard ASCII files created with any text editor. (A free
screen editor is also included)

Both programs work on the IBM-PC or close compatibles. If anyone has
any questions you may contact me at any of the below addresses:
