[net.music] Lambs, and why one would lay down on Broadway

ag4@pucc-h (Angus Greiswald the fourth) (01/25/85)

Hello again,

Just a thing or two about the Lamb I want to cover:

To those who don't like the album all that much, but like most
of Genesis' other stuff; give it a few good listens over a period
of time. The album is one of those that won't strike your fancy right
away, but give it the benefit of the doubt. I think if you do, you'll
end up appreciating it a lot more. In terms of imagery and emotion,
it's a very rich album.

To those who do like it; listen to it with the lyrics sometime and
pay particular attention to the interaction between Rael and John
with emphasis on the ending. I'm curious what other conclusions people
have come to regarding what happens on the beach after Rael has saved John,
and just before *it*. I'm being somewhat vague so as not to taint you
with what I think. You have to be very image conscious. The meaning
of the title should now be within your grasp if you think in terms of what
images a lamb portrays. If you don't see any significance at all,
don't worry, it occured to me only after having the album for ~3 years.

I'm very intrigued by the images in this album, and would love to get
a mailing list together if there is sufficient interest so we could
pool any various insights. I'm not interested in putting any heavy
significance on the album, just in finding out what's there.
