Having recently acquired a telescope, I am going on an accessory buying binge. Regular color filters are only about $5 or $6. I saw a "Nebulae" filter and asked about it. It was $75! I almost fainted. I have heard that they go a long way toward eliminating the reflected night light from street lights. Could people please comment on whether this sort of filter is worth buying? Is it good at its job? Is it a gimmick? Is it worth $75? Any field experience?. (Aside to FPOA and SJAA ... the telescope sale at Fremont Peak was great. I wanted to tell you that I had found a beautiful little park in Saratoga, where there are no street lights and it is higher than the rest of the valley. There are about 3 magnitudes of stars you can see from there that you can't see in the built up areas. ... Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that the park also has automatic sprinklers that come on at 10:30 pm. They were last seen operating past midnight. My scope is dry now, so I think I will try to get to the Peak on the next new moon weekend... - Christopher Salander Lockheed Space Systems Division ... and the next week I was attacked by a big black dog in a school yard.
