Thanks for all the info concerning the "fireball". It really
was spectacular. According to the news that night and the one following
it was widely seen.
Anyway, the second day after the sighting I noticed an article
in the paper (back about page 9 zillion or so...REALLY buried) concerning
a Soviet space shot that didn't quite make it. A little research found
that this shot took place just about the time that I saw the "fireball".
Assumption drawn is that maybe I should write a thank-you note to the
Politburo for the great display. At any rate, I'll always remember
the way that thing looked.
