I also spotted Halley's last week. On Friday, November 8, with my 7X30 binoculars. I agree with the other person that it looked nothing like a star. It looked much more like a Messier object, nebula, galaxy, something fuzzy and dim with no point of light associated with it. If I hadn't known exactly where to look, from charts in Astronomy Magazine, I would never have found it. In the next week or so it will be travelling between Taurus and the Pleiades.
