I saw Halley's Comet again Saturday night, November 9th-10th. It was very near the eastern edge of the face of the bull (Taurus). I was using a pair of 11x80 binoculars, and to me it looked round, and about twice the diameter of the great Andromeda nebula (M31). It was still quite dim. A friend of mine who lives in a less light polluted area saw it using 7x50's the same night. He said that it was more tear drop shaped. If you are planning to look for it this autumn, and you have a pair of binoculars, try it this week in the late evenings 10-midnight. Wednesday night it will be below and to the left of the Pleades, by two or three degrees (the width of your thumb at arms length). Thursday night it will be directly below the Pleades (slightly to the left). Friday night (Nov 15th-16th) it will be 3 degrees below, and slightly to the right of the Pleades. Saturday night it will be 4 or 5 degrees away, below and to the right.
