[] I was rereading Nigel Calder's book "Einstein's Universe" and he makes mention of a proposed experiment involving specially constructed gyroscopes that were to be carried on a space shuttle flight. The experiment was designed at Stanford and was supposed to verify Einstein's theory regarding the effects of drag by a massive object (earth) on surrounding space. Has anyone heard of such an experiment? Was it carried out? What were the results? The book was written before the shuttle flew in space.
