[] About the cars, motorcycles, etc. dying... As I understand EMP (and really, NOBODY REALLY DOES TOTALLY): it would most likely knock out anything with semiconductors in it (unless specially, and totally, sheilded ESPECIALLY against EMP). In all cars sense around 1970 or so, the alternators have semiconductor diodes that dont take much abuse to blow out (as anybody who has installed one can tell you...). Of course, anything with computers (or eletronic ignitions, etc) would be dead in the water also. About the only vehicals to still run would be older ones with generators and NO semiconductor parts!!! (say, a pre-1974 VW bug...). ...ihnp4!ihuxn!ruffwork ...ihnp4!iham1!ruffwork []
