There have been numerous requests in this group for origins of names, genealogy in China, and is anyone by the name of " " out there, but, at least on the newsgroup, there haven't been any responses. Has anyone who posted a request got an answer? And, if multiple answeres were received, would a summary of the answers be worth posting as general interest items? Bob Stekl ihuxn!rms

As I have expressed to a number of people who resonded to my request, I have received several replies to my request for checking phone book for my name. Specifically, I have received 11 positive replies about "Stanwyck"s, and several more replies that were negative or were about other similar spellings (i.e. Stanwyk, Stanwick). Since I was not interested in the alternatives, and I got busy for a while, I failed to repond to each individual message I received. The news: Among the good results were: My uncle's first wife & my cousins (one family, 3 people) that I had lost track of, but who live just a couple hours from where I now live. I have made contact. My uncle & his present wife, who I have not seen in many years, but had not lost track of. I had not had their present address, but had had means to get it. 7 other listings (3 Chicago, 2 Totonto, 1 NY, 1 NJ) that I have not yet contacted (busy, fear?), but hope to contact via mail soon. I expect to finalize a format for a non-threatening "you call/write me if you want, I won't bother you again" type letter asking for any information about what other stanwycks they are related to (so I know how the 7 listings match family wise), any information about their family background (solid evidence or hearsay), or any other things they may want to tell me. The biggest concern is that I don't come on too strong in my interest in their background, as I know how that can scare some people. Anyway, THANX! to all who responded, and to all who checked without responding. I, of course, will be more than happy to help out anyway I can in your searches.
