The Halbert business is not exactly a scam, but you may be lured by their advertising into thinking that you are getting more for your money than you are. The "registry or the Albrechts" is merely an accumulation of phone book information for people of the name Albrecht. This could be useful in certain circumstances, e.g., you are trying to sell a family history of the Albrechts or are trying to collect information for the same. It is probably not very useful at all if you are trying merely to trace your own Albrecht ancestors. The "little known facts" are stuff like the number of names on the above list, nothing of any real interest. The other stuff is general information readily available in any number of libraries. Yes, and that includes the coat of arms. Any major library will have an armorial reference, and you can bet that if Halbert, Inc., found it that it isn't hard to find. If you really have a need for a mailing list (and I'm not sure how complete it is) of Albrechts, then perhaps the 25 bucks is not a lot to pay for one. Otherwise I recommend using your money in more productive ways. For example, you could send it to me and I'll keep it. By the way, I do not know all this from experience. Other people I know have fallen for it, and it has been written up in this or that magazine. Vick Bennison ...decvax!decwrl!rhea!turtle!bennison (603) 881-2165
