[net.roots] Information on William Tucker

waltt@tekecs.UUCP (Walt Tucker) (02/14/85)

I thought I'd try this (even if it is a remote possibility), since this
news group isn't that heavily used :-).

I'm doing some geneology on my family. I thought there might be a remote
possibility that someone else might know about this and be a long-lost
relative or something, since the side I have traced so far has tended to
populate rather exponentially.

Anyway, I know my great-great-great-grandfather was William Tucker, resident
of Kentucky (listed as a "Kentucky Rifleman" in one of my sources). He
fought in the war of 1812 under General(?) Hull. He was believed killed
about 1814 by indians on his way home from the war. I would guess he was
probably born about the time of the revolutionary war.

William Tucker had six children, one of whom was my great-great-grandfather
(Henry B. Tucker) who took the family to Oregon in 1852 via a wagon train
leaving Ripley County, Indiana. From there, my family history is pretty
solid.

Also, my ancestrial line (Tucker) were early settlers of colonial Virginia.

Can anybody provide me with more information about William Tucker or any of
his other six children? If not, do you have any suggestions as to sources
I might contact to further this study?

                            Thanks much,

                            Walt Tucker
