I am posting this for my daughter, Sarah. Sarah, has been tracing the family tree for the Ridder family and the Gurtler family. She has traced back to her Great**5-Father on the Ridder side. The information she has is as follows: The Ridder family came from a town called Stedum in The Netherlands. The family moved to South Holland, Illinois around the turn of the century. Most likely 1915-1918. Around the time of the great Flu outbreak that swept the USA. I do believe that the family settled in Summit, Illinois for awhile. The Gurtler family came from Dresden, Germany before WWI. Some settled in Canada and some in Chicago, Illinois. If anyone has infomation on these families, please e-mail to either myself or my daughter (preferred).
