----- I posted a note a while back explaining why I thought net.roots does not get a lot of traffic. Without someone performing a service, such as keeping a data base of surnames, there just isn't too much that a store and forward net like this can provide to genealogists. There aren't enough people on the net who are into genealogy to make the knowledge base broad enough. I have been doing genealogical research for over ten years now and most of the questions I've seen in net.roots have been either too specific or too general for me to be able to contribute. As for the bulletin board service, it is not very economical to spend money for a coast to coast long distance call to get a surname search on a database that contains a paltry 10,000 entries. The probability of a relevent hit is pretty small at that level. And for a few pennies I can drive to my local Morman genealogical library and browse free for hours through millions of records, including a surname registry that must contain hundreds of thousands of names. However, since you offered, and particularly if it's a local call for you, you might look and see if the ROOTS-BBS has anything on the surnames: LOOP (LUPP/LEUPP) or BENNISON These are pretty uncommon surnames and it is unlikely anything will turn up.
