[net.roots] Another Query

djo@sdchema.UUCP (Denise O'jibway) (12/03/85)

Joseph TROTOCHAUD married Mary BELLVERE. Both were born in either
France or Canada. They had a daughter named Marie TROTOCHAUD
b. 19Mar1857 in Three Rivers (?), Ontario (?), Canada. Marie
married Joseph O'JIBWAY and they lived in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
I am seeking any information on this family. Has anyone done any
research in France? Any information at all about french research
will be greatly appreciated.

First, let me say that I'm happy to finally see some action in this group!

Now for my query: Lewis EPPSTEIN was born circa 1871 in Bromberg,
Germany (now some city in Poland). Supposedly his father was a Rabbi.
He came to New Zealand as a pressman in the boot trade (does that mean
shoes or something else?) and married May Mabel HART.

I don't expect any of you out there to have anything on this, and I
can deal with the New Zealand part on my own. My question is, what do
I do about Poland? Do I have any chance of finding official
government or church (temple) documents?

I don't know if anyone is having any luck with these queries, but
I thought I'd give it a try.

My maternal grandmother's surname is Collosky. This appears to be
slavic (russian?) in origin, but her grandfather supposedly came to
the US from Schleswig-Holstein, in Northern Germany. Any information
regarding this name (etymological/personal) would be appreciated.
