The software put out by the LDS church is PAF (Personal Ancestry File) and it sells for around $40. The first release was infamous for its slowness and they recently issued PAF2.0 which is rumored to be faster. GENEALOGY ON DISPLAY is a software package distributed on the shareware concept. IF you like it the author requests that you send in a contribution. It has all the features of any other (higher priced) genealogy system. TRACER22 was written by an unhappy PAF user. He retained the PAF file structure but rewrite the access routines resulting in a very fast PAF clone. It is also distributed as shareware with a try it, if you like it pay for it, type of arrangement. Another shareware package is FAMILY TIES. These last three can be downloaded from the ROOTS-BBS (415)-584-0697 300/1200 8/n/1. That board also has other public domain software and a downloadable demo version of Quinsept's package.
