[net.roots] NR| Major John Stith

I have received some information on one of my ancestors and was wondering if
someone who lived near Charles City County, VA might be able to look something
up for me. I have had a great deal of success in tracking down ancestors
who lived in MA in the 1600s and in fact have found a book in the local
library that showed in which ships they came over from England. Here in MA
we also have access to "Vital Records to 1850" for most towns which are
pretty comprehensive back into the 1600s. I'm hoping that Charles City
Country has something similar and am looking on any aditional information
on the following couple that might be available, ie year they came from
England, birth, marry, and death dates for the wife, etc.

*Major John Stith (Sr.)	b. where:

"John Sith Sr. came to America before 1656 and had a grant of 500 acres of land
on the north side of the James River in Charles City County, VA around 1663.
He was captain of the Charles City Country Militia and was actively engaged on
the Government's side during the Bacons(?) Rebellion."

They had 3 children:

*Lt Col. Drury Stith Sr	b.
					m. Suzanne Bathurst
					d. 1741
		Anne Stith b.
					m. 1681 Col. Robert Bolling Sr.
					d.
		John Sith Jr. b.
					m. Mary Randolph
					d.

Any help would be appreciated. Pointers to help are almost as good as actual
data as I have no idea how easy it is to research roots in VA.

Thanks,
