After a heavy deluge of apathy, I have created the newsgroup net.announce.newusers. Since this is a subgroup of net.announce, it is also moderated. The regular monthly postings will be posted to net.announce.newusers, rather than to net.announce. This way, those of you that have already read these postings can safely unsubscribe to net.announce.newusers, but still get important new announcements. Don't worry about missing updates to the articles. When things change, if they are important, a description of the change will be posted to net.announce. New monthly postings will be posted once to net.announce as well. Minor changes, such as typographical changes or clarifications, will just be incorporated and not otherwise mentioned. I request that you not unsubscribe until the batch of messages comes around on March 1. That way, if they don't arrive, you can let me know so I can attempt to track down the trouble. (Give them a few days to work their way around the net.) Mark Horton
