There appears to be some confusion about the proper placement of articles when submitting to the net. Please allow me to point out the long-standing Usenet conventions. net.general is intended for announcments of general interest to all (read: world-wide) readers of news. If you want to submit an article to more than one newsgroup, net.general SHOULD NEVER be one of them. Follow-ups to articles appearing in net.general should go to net.followup and NEVER to net.general. If your posting is one where you just don't know where it goes, but it isn't really an important announcement, submit it to net.misc net.sources is intended for source code of programs of general interest. It is NOT intended for "wanted" queries. Nor is it appropriate to discuss postings there. If you are looking for source, post your requests to net.wanted (and possibly to one other appropriate group such as net.math, net.lang, or net.unix-wizards). Microcomputer source (or object code) which you suspect to be of limited interest to the WORLD-WIDE network readership should get posted to the appropriate net.micro.* group. net.net-people is intended for postings of the sort "Do you know of a path to person <x> at site <y> on network <z>?" In general, a "For Sale" item is not appropriate in any "net." group unless you specify a regional distribution. There is a list posted to the group "net.news.groups" every two weeks which summarizes all of the newsgroups and their purposes. Please consult that list before you post again and help keep the network tidy. As we say, thanks in advance. ---- Gene Spafford The Clouds Project, School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA 30332 Phone: (404) 894-6169, (404) 894-6170 [messages] CSNet: Spaf @ GATech ARPA: Spaf%GATech.CSNet @ CSNet-Relay.ARPA uucp: ...!{akgua,allegra,amd,hplabs,ihnp4,masscomp,ut-ngp}!gatech!spaf ...!{rlgvax,sb1,uf-cgrl,unmvax,ut-sally}!gatech!spaf
