[net.announce] Lab Automation Tools Survey

nick@hpisla.uucp (Nick Fowler) (03/13/85)

I've been interested in what lab automation tools are being used
by professionals in different occupations around the net and
whether these tools are deemed adequate by their users. Please
take a few moments and answer these questions about your tool
set. I'll compile and post the results to the net.

Just fill in your answers beneath the questions.

1. Enter your engineering specialty (i.e. computer science,
    electrical engineering, etc.)

1.1 If involved in hardware design, is your design work
	     primarily analog or digital?

2. Specify your functional area (i.e. R&D, marketing, etc.)

3. Primary computer used FOR DESIGN WORK (not just reading news)
    Name manufacturer and model.

3.1 Is this computer shared or do you have sole use?

	3.2 Specify operating system(s) used.

3.3 If this computer is multi-user, how many people
	      regularly use this resource?

4. List the five software tools most often used and rate from
    1 to 10 its usefulness (1 = worthless, 10 = excellent).

	etc.

	2. Document preparation tools
	etc.

	1.
	2.
	3.

6. How did you get your complement of tools? (Inherited from
previous user, specified purchase, MIS specified, etc.)
