[net.announce] EUUG Working Group on National Adaptions of UNIX formed

On the Annual General Assembly of DKUUG - "Danish UNIX systems
User Group" gathered at University of Copenhagen, 18th Nov 1984,
a Working Group on National Adaptions of UNIX was formed.
This group was recognized as an EUUG - "European UNIX systems
User Group" - Working Group on its Executive board meeting
14th Jan 1985.

At present it has the following members:

       Keld Simonsen      University of Copenhagen   diku!keld
       Kim Biel-Nielsen   Metric A/S (Zilog)         diku!kontiki!kbn
       Peter Mikkelsen    NCR Softw. Eng. Copenhagen diku!ncrsecp!mik

The group is open and hereby seeks interested parties to join or
give information to the group. We intend to hold a meeting
during the EUUG conference in Paris 1st - 3rd April 1985.

   The Working Group of National Adaptions of UNIX has recognized
problems in national use in the following areas:

 1.    Problems in national character sets in connection with:
         sh/csh, C, n/troff, applications

 2.    Problems due to national languages:
         Error messages, spell, word partitioning, sorting

 3.    Dates, timezones.

 4.    Pluralis.

 5.    Numerical syntax.

 6.    Paper formats.

 7.    Currency symbols.

The Working Group intends to obtain the following results:

 1.    Collecting of information and contacts on the subject.

 2.    Awareness of the problems in user groups, newsletters
       and nets, software producers , hardware producers incl.
       UEL and AT&T.

 3.    Recommendations on what to do.
