Several new Technical Reports with special relevance to UNIX users are now available (for free!). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Pattern Matching with Regular Expression Notation in UNIX" Timothy D. Gill, TR-85-12, 21 pages ABSTRACT: This document is a tutorial on the use of regular expressions in UNIX. It introduces the facilities and notation for string pattern matching using regular expressions, and should enable one to learn to use these facilities easily and without having to read the many and varied pieces of UNIX documentation on the subject. I think virtually any UNIX user will learn something from this report. It uses examples from grep, egrep, fgrep, sed, csh, ex, and vi. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Rapid/USE on UNIX" Elisabeth Huhn, TR-85-10, 17 pages ABSTRACT: This document is a tutorial on the use of Rapid/USE, a user interface building tool on UNIX. Rapid/USE is a tool that allows a programmer to separate concerns of physical I/O with a terminal from higher level User Interface issues. Rapid/USE is a product of Anthony Wasserman's User Software Engineering (USE) project at the University of California, San Francisco. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Introduction to WICOMO" Susan Stefanec, TR-85-06, 14 pages ABSTRACT: This document introduces the user to WICOMO, an interactive software cost estimation program based on the COCOMO model developed by Barry Boehm of TRW. The reader will be able to use WICOMO to estimate the cost and duration of software projects. Call Wang Institute at (617) 649-9731 for more information about WICOMO's distribution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To obtain reports, write to this address, and specify the reports you want: Technical Report Requests Wang Institute of Graduate Studies Tyng Road Tyngsboro, Massachusetts 01879
