[net.cse.cai] Creation of newsgroup cse.cai

sean@garfield.UUCP (Sean Byrne) (11/19/83)

This newsgroup is for the discussion of CAI (Computer
Aided Instruction) related matters.

It is an attempt to find out what is going on in the
world of CAI, who's doing it, and what can be done.

I think that net.cse.cai is a rather poor idea. (I also don't recall seeing
it discussed beforehand, but might have missed it.) As I recall, net.cse
was created for discussions on Computer Science Education, interpreted as
teaching Computer Science, not teaching \using/ computers.

Currently, of course, net.cse has been turned into yet another flamegroup
after Adam Buchsbaum (mistakenly, in my opinion) moved discussion on
education \in general/ into it. Still, this seems no reason to further
downgrade net.cse into a catchall for educational topics by the creation of
net.cse.cai.
